How it's done
Freeze-drying is a process that snap-freezes your flowers to a temperature of -30C. After twenty-four hours, when everything is frozen solid, the air in the freeze-dryer is pumped out to create a vacuum. Within the vacuum, moisture from the frozen petals will slowly vaporise. This process is called sublimation. The moisture vapours are collected in the condensors of the freeze-dryer and removed as ice. The temperature of the chamber is raised a few degrees each day and after two weeks the process is completed and your flowers are freeze-dried.
Lasting quality:
Freeze-drying is recognised as one of the best methods of flower preservation but the finished product does depend on type of flower, colour and where it is displayed. All preserved flowers should be kept out of direct sunlight and high humidity. Framed they will last a very long time.
Procedure:
On receipt of your flowers we photograph them, then gently dismantle the bouquet.
When the drying process is complete, we arrange a personal consultation with you to help you select the most beautiful way to display your flowers. We have a wide variety of modern and traditional frame mouldings for your selection. We also use conservation-quality matt boards to ensure the long life of your picture. We also frame photographs, wedding certificates and other wedding memorabilia. All framing is carried out on the premises.
Prior to the wedding we will be happy to discuss your choice of flowers and how to care for them after the big day. We can arrange a pick-up service if required or you can deliver the flowers to us. Remember: the fresher the flowers the better the result.
